DAVID ROSENBLOOM | TOKYO BAY:
DAVID ROSENBLOOM | TOKYO BAY
David Rosenbloom's six-screen LCD installation, Tokyo Bay, is a mysterious, moving montage of Tokyo at night, as seen from the perch of Mt. Fuji. Through the interplay of light and perspective, the artist takes us beyond what is visible to tap into a vital element unique to an Eastern culture; one whose criteria for aesthetic achievement is based on what is veiled versus what is revealed.

BRENT BIRNBAUM | IF THERE IS ONE, HAS GOD BEEN TO IKEA?

Brent Birnbaum's site-specific installation is composed from hundreds of trash-bound Ikea shelves, that the artist collected from the street and craigslist. Believing that the purchase, then ultimate disposal of Ikea furniture signifies a rite of passage into adulthood, Birnbaum's installation represents countless stories with one common thread: that upon trashing their utilitarian furniture for the masses, have all achieved a new level of maturity, yet one that is still defined by assimilation.
